Asmara, 05 July 2018 – The Eritrean Road Traffic Safety Association in cooperation with Total Eritrea have installed road side safety mirrors in the road sides of Asmara-Massawa road aimed at enhancing the visibility of vehicles and other road users.

At a ceremony conducted in Gindae town on 3 July, the Commander of the Eritrean Police, Col. Mehari Tsegay stating that ensuring the safety of road users is a task that needs integrated effort commended Total Eritrea for its contribution in ensuring road safety and other community and environmental activities.

The Managing Director of Total Eritrea, Mr. Adge Kacou on his part said that in addition to its business activities Total Eritrea is playing due part in ensuring road traffic and environmental safety. Mr. Adge also stated that Total Eritrea is engaged in ensuring sustainable development by contributing in major projects including in health, education and energy sectors.

The Chairman of the Eritrean Road Traffic Safety Association, Mr. Estifanos Habtemariam on his part indicated that the 51 road safety mirrors installed on the road sides of Asmara- Massawa road will play due part in the reduction of road accidents and ensuring safety of road users.

The D. G. of Road Safety and Sustainable Development projects at Total Eritrea, Ms. Letebrehan Ghide on her part said that the mirrors are installed after conducting a thorough research and are expected to enhance visibility of road users and allow drivers control their speed and avoid any potential accident.

Reports indicate that similar road side safety mirrors will be installed in other major highways with a view to reduce potential road accidents. (Source: shabait.com 2018-05-07)
